A brilliant career in children's telly and he still had time to make all those hurdles.

Ian Blackwell will be distraught. HMHB launched an entire career on the back of Trumpton.

Bungo I saw Playaway live too! First thing the school ever took me to.
I was going to the Roundhouse to watch The Wedding Present last Saturday and my pal asked me the first gig I'd seen there. 'Playaway live' I proudly said. The original line-up of Cant, Benjamin, Griffiths, little Ted, Big Ted before he tragically went at the age all the best rock-stars go-27, Gemima, Humpty- fucking classic and probably changed my life'.
Brian Cant has given me a phrase that has always been there when I am troubled. 'When you think 'I can't', remember Brian Cant could and then remember that there's no such word as 'can't'
Wise, wise words. They fail miserably under any kind of scrutiny whatsoever but wise, wise words.
Rest in peace you massive Cant.

Brian Cant always seemed like your best mate's slightly cool dad. Not like your own pervy uncle, which most of the others did, even at the time.
RIP Sir, and thanks for the 'what do you call a camel with three humps joke', which I still use.

How is Brian Cant the childhood hero of a 50 odd year old Turkish man, Zoltan?

Sorry to keep returning to the topic of Pipkins, but to this day I still have more questions than answers. And a fair few nightmares.
All of the Pipkins puppets looked proper gammy and threadbare pretty much from the very first episodes. Why should this be? Who would set out to make worn-looking and manky puppets for a children's TV show?? Leading theory: the producers were hiring out the puppets for frottage parties for Furries.

Remember seeing Play Away live when I was very young with him and Toni Arthur.
I remember realising that she was sexy even before I understood why. Judging by the wolf whistles from the rest of the (very young) audience I wasn't alone.

I'd forgotten about him Nurse - what were they trying to do to us!
Heard on a radio show that the guy who played Yofi (who was a serious country musician) hated doing Fingerbobs and cut fingermouse up with scissors as soon as he had filmed his last scene.

Hamvle had a chilling effect on my childhood viewing.
Much like Hartley Hare. The depressed, flyblown Larry Grayson of puppets.
